Nail Fungus

Onychomycosis means fungal infection of the nail. It is the most common disease of the nails and constitutes about a half of all nail abnormalities.

Signs & Symptoms

The most common symptom of a fungal nail infection is the nail becoming thickened and discoloured: white, black, yellow or green. As the infection progresses the nail can become brittle, with pieces breaking off or coming away from the toe or finger completely. If left untreated, the skin can become inflamed and painful underneath and around the nail. There may also be white or yellow patches on the nailbed or scaly skin next to the nail.

Arlington / Mansfield Foot & Ankle Centers are now offering the newest treatment in nail fungus, the HyperBlue 1530 Laser.

FAQ

How does the laser work?

The laser light passes through the toenail, killing the fungus, without causing damage to the nail or the surrounding skin.  At the time of the procedure, the toenail will not become instantly clear – it will take time to grow out.

What can I expect in the office?

An initial consultation will be scheduled with your provider to determine if you are a candidate.  This will be followed by three treatment sessions.

Is treatment covered by insurance?

The initial consultation can be filed with your insurance, however, the laser treatment is not covered.  You are welcome to use your Flex or HSA account.  We accept all major credit cards as well as Care credit.  The full cost of treatment is $600 and beyond your first visit there are no copays.
